The North End

Shout it from the roof tops: we love The North End. What’s not to love?

This dynamic Halifax community could be used as a metaphor for our human possibility. We attract creative minds who identify with the freedom that floods our streets. This is a place where business and residential blend, where high end coffee shops sit kitty corner indie bars, our co-op and investment firm are only a couple of brightly painted doors down from one another.

Despite our differences we have more in common with one another than not. Last winter at one of NEBA’s open space workshops I heard someone explain that we are united by our values: We shovel our own sidewalks and when we can we shovel our neighbours too.

What we’ve become is a thriving community of individuals who believe in the potential of an entrepreneurial ecosystem. I invite you to come explore this little village in the North End of Halifax. Pick up a NEBA walking map and give yourself a day to visit some of the extraordinary shops that make up The North End.

Cinco de Mayo Cash Mob

On May 5th @ 1pm grab your best girlfriends/your mother/you sister and come shop at Grimsmo’s. You’re going to love this vibrant little boutique in the heart of downtown Halifax.

What’s a Cash Mob? It’s the Groupon antithesis!
The mission is to shop –en masse- at local businesses and to have fun building longterm relationships with the business owners who make Halifax such an eclectic and upbeat city. At eyecandy we have the distinct pleasure of working with many of Halifax’s small business owners. We’re inspired by the hard work, passion and drive behind these businesses and are enthusiastic to give entrepreneurs Jessy and Rachael some much-deserved warm and fuzzies.

So let’s do this, let’s celebrate small businesses and SHOP Grimsmo’s first ever spring season! The rules are simple:

1. Spread the word. Maybe tell a friend, share this event page, send out some tweety love (#HFXcashmob).
2. Spend $20. You can spend more or less.
3. Have fun! Depending on how many people show up you may have to wait in line to try on that gorgeous Canadian dress. Please be patient, changing the world takes time!

We’re going to meet right inside the little boutique at 1:00!
